Vanderbilt Adult Chamber Music InstituteAmateur adult string players and pianists are invited to the Vanderbilt campus for 4 days of chamber music. The daily schedule will include plenary sessions on technique and literature, chamber group coachings and rehearsals, masterclasses and concerts. All levels of experience are welcomed. Summer Fun with Strings AGES 6 - 12 Beginners learn the fundamentals of playing the violin as they are guided by our experienced and enthusiastic string faculty. Intermediates work together as a group to advance their skills through a variety of fun and challenging music. Additional group activities may be included. Your instructor will notify you of how this may affect class times. Class will be taught using Zoom. Beginner’s camp kit includes games, activities and teaching aids. Intermediate camp kit includes a folder, sheet music and a pencil. All students will receive a camp t-shirt. On the last day of camp, students will have the opportunity to live stream recordings of themselves to their classmates. - July 6 - 17, 2020
Summer String Intensive ENTERING GRADES 6 - 12 Are you looking for a way to advance your string playing ability this summer? This online camp is for you! Under the guidance of FSPA string faculty and other specialists from our community, students will have the chance to learn technique building (like vibrato, bowing and shifting) and spend extra time on composition through the technology of Zoom. Featured guests will join throughout the week. The instruction is intense, but the benefits will be visible as students gain an edge in advancing skills. Camp kit includes staff paper, sheet music for warm-ups, and a camp t-shirt. FOOSA Half-Day Program: FOOSA Half-Day is an intensive program geared toward the younger player (K-12). It is a commuter program, intended for those who live in the area. We offer a String Orchestra Program (violin, viola, cello, bass), a Young Harpists Program, and a Percussion Program. Classes run 9am to 1pm daily for the entire two weeks. Violin Adventures ONLINE Ages 6-9 Connect with fellow young violinists and travel the world through music in this class! Viola Bootcamp ONLINE Ages 10-18 Placement Audition Required. Viola Bootcamp is a rigorous, supportive program for intermediate viola students focused on building a healthy technical foundation. Led by Academy string faculty and guest artists, the week includes private lessons, viola ensemble, supervised daily practice, fundamentals and scales classes, workshops on practice techniques and audition strategies, and masterclasses. Violin Bootcamp: Technique Intensive ONLINE Ages 10-18 Audition Required. Violin Bootcamp is a rigorous program for intermediate and advanced violinists focused on building a healthy technical foundation. Academy faculty and guest artists create a supportive, growth-focused environment for students as they examine the intricacies of violin technique. The week includes private lessons, supervised daily practice, classes on fundamentals, scales, and etudes, masterclasses, and workshops on practice techniques and audition strategies. Violin Bootcamp: Artistry Internsive ONLINE Ages 10-18 Audition Required New in Summer 2020, Violin Bootcamp: Artistry Intensive is a challenging program for intermediate and advanced violinists to hone their technical and performance skills. In this expanded program, Academy faculty and guest artists create a supportive, growth-focused environment for students, who will study and develop the many different skills of the performing artist. Each student will come with a polished, memorized solo piece and will have private lessons, supervised individual practice, classes on technical fundamentals, the art of interpretation, stage and camera presence, and score study. Workshops and masterclasses with guest artists and Academy faculty will further enhance the student experience. Classes will be taught via pre-recorded technical tutorials, guided independent study assignments, and live seminars on Zoom. - August 10 - 14, 2020

The 16th session of Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival will be held as an online program in 2020, from June 29 to July 24. Green Mountain Online will consist of the following, all online: six lessons during the four weeks, one studio class and festival-wide concert per week; a class on self-recording; presentations by faculty on instrumental technique, effective practicing, career development, solo and chamber music repertoire, and orchestral excerpts for violin, viola and cello. Summer Camps:
The Strathgheny School of Scottish Fiddling is ONLINE online this summer. The dates will stay the same (July 6-12), but the entire course will be hosted through an online format. This includes 33+ hours of instruction in the art of traditional Scottish fiddling, all music, piano accompaniment tracks, full concerts, private lessons with the instructors, and evening activities.
