“ASTA has changed my life! I truly believe I owe a big part of my success and joy in teaching to what I have learned through ASTA.”

Michelle Wilkinson-Nelson, Prairieville, Indiana

We believe playing a stringed instrument can change a life. Founded in 1946, the American String Teachers Association exists to support string and orchestra teachers and players. Our members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. We provide teaching resources, a career center, professional education, insurance programs, local and national events, and access to a vibrant and sharing strings community.

ASTA actively seeks members who want to make a difference in the strings community!

ASTA Board of Directors Statement

ASTA condemns the continuing acts of violence against the Black community. We denounce racism, hatred, and violence in any form and raise our voices in support of our Black members and our Black string students. Black Lives Matter. Read the full statement.
